E importante partire dalle origini per capire il vero significato. Il separè o paravento , ha una storia millenaria che risale addirittura a prima della nascita di Cristo. Già qià a quei tempi si utilizzavano dei rudimentali pannelli singoli per schermare e dividere gli spazi. Fu soltanto con successivamente, con l'avvento della dinastia Hang, nel 200 a.c, che nacquero i primi e veri paraventi. Le rappresentazioni dell'epoca e le fonti storiche ci forniscono un ampio spettro sull'utilizzo del paravento e in particolare sulla decorazione dedicata a questi pannelli. I temi erano tra i più svariati e si passava delle rappresentazioni mitologiche, alle scene di vita di palazzo per arrivare al tema naturale. Il separè veniva utilizzato in svariati modi. Se ne vede l'impiego per dare maggior privacy all'interno di grandi ambienti di palazzo, per evitare che potessero esserci spifferi all'interno delle abitazioni e secondo alcune antiche tradizioni pare che bloccassero l'ingresso degli spiriti nelle case.
L'avvento dei separè non tardò a conquistare tutto il mondo orientale, diventando un vero e proprio oggetto simbolo che segno la storia antica del Giappone. Qui i paraventi venivano creati come vere e proprie opere d'arte per occasioni esclusive. Dall'oriente all'occidente la strada fu breve, e nel tardo Medioevo si vede la presenza del paravento all'interno di castelli e chiese. Fonti storiche confermano che la moda orientale è diventata di uso comune e dunque ritroviamo testimonianze di paraventi usati nelle grandi cattedrali a riparare dalle correnti fredde nelle stagioni invernali e a dividere gli ampi saloni dei palazzi rinascimentali.Da filo conduttore sarà proprio la Compagnia delle Indie, che mettendo in comunicazione diretta la Cina con l'occidente, permise la grande diffusione del paravento nella metà del 700; ormai il paravento era divento un oggetto decorativo al punto tale che venivano ingaggiati artisti per tingere i grandi arazzi con i quali si sarebbero realizzati i paraventi.Il miglioramento degli standard abitativi che si registrò nei primi decenni dell'800 e il conseguente uso di mezzi di riscaldamento innovativi, fece decadere la fama del paravento. Breve assenza diremmo, dato che già con i primi anni del 900 , i separè tornarono di gran moda, ricchi di echi di una storia millenaria e di un fascino senza tempo continuano ad affascinare grandi designer e grazie alla loro versatilità sono sempre più presenti nelle nostre case.

Unire l’estetica alla funzionalità oggigiorno diventa sempre più difficile.
La ricerca diventa sempre più ardua quando ci si rivolge nella direzione di chi vuole collezionare pezzi d’arte;
come diceva qualcuno, l’arte è di tutti, ma non è per tutti.
Oggi l’unione dell’arte contemporanea all’ interior design sta diventando però sempre più solida.
Un’opera d’arte è emotività e racconta il punto di vista del suo autore, è unicità dell’irripetibilità e lusso dell’essenza.
È comunque innegabile un cambiamento nella concezione dell’arte: sempre più spesso, infatti, troviamo nelle case degli oggetti di design esposti come vere e proprie opere, esattamente come fossero un quadro o una scultura, con la sola eccezione che le opere classiche erano uniche, mentre oggi è come se avessimo delle opere d’arte seriali.
Perché scegliere arredi che diventano sempre più opere d’arte?
Perché l’arte fa bene al cuore, ispira e afferma la propria individualità.
La ricerca del pezzo unico di design o in serie limitata, è ormai diventata la regola per l’arredo delle case più belle.
Gli arredi come vere proprie sculture, dialogano con gli interni
e li rendono unici.
Arte e arredamento, quindi, seguono un percorso parallelo, evolvendosi di pari passo con il risultato di dare nuova vita agli spazi.
